Lesson 3: Importance and Uses of Metals

This teaching episode will be introducing students to the world of metal working. The use of web 2.0 tools will be used in the three lessons making up this teaching episode. Students will be introduced several career opportunities in metal working and the skills required to enter that these given fields. The actual production process of Iron and steel will be introduced and explained to students. The last area of the teaching episode will highlight the great importance and uses of metals to the world. The class will be engaged in an interactive and virtual learning experience.


Lesson 1 Careers in Metal Working

This lesson is tailored to the first form mechanical engineering class. The class has 20 students, 6 six female and 14 males, ages 12-14, students are group at the level 2. There are two students in the class with some specials needs one boy is restricted to a wheelchair and one boy has limited vision in one eye. Student will be engaged in identifying the many career options available and the role function of these career paths and the skills required to obtain a job in that field. Students will also be choosing three career paths that they have interest in and should be able to present one of the them to the class describing and outline the roles and responsibilities. The class will be using their electronic devices to do some online research. The web 2.0 tool know as Delicious will be used to share with students online links to videos and bookmarked web sites featuring various careers in metalworking.




Lesson 2  Iron and Steel Production Process

This lesson is tailored to the first form mechanical engineering class. The class has 20 students, 6 six female and 14 males, ages 12-14, students are group at the level 2. There are two students in the class with some specials needs one boy is restricted to a wheelchair and one boy has limited vision in one eye. Since it is virually impossible to have field trip to observe the iron and steel production process students will learn by video tutorials so that can gain a vidual appreciation for the production process. This will be done using Youtube mainly its playlist and channels feature.





Lesson 1 Importance and Uses of Metals

This lesson is tailored to the first form mechanical engineering class. The class has 20 students, 6 six female and 14 males, ages 12-14, students are group at the level 2. There are two students in the class with some specials needs one boy is restricted to a wheelchair and one boy has limited vision in one eye.
