Big Issues on Campus
Dramatic music……………………………
Safi Kilima: Welcome to the Big Issues on Campus. I am your host, Safi
Kilima. In our studios with us we have from the Department of Teacher
Education at Antigua State College we have Miss Truma N'Tugo, a trainee
TVET teacher. Now Miss N'Tugo you are here on our program today to
voice some issues that you and your classmates are presently facing.
Correct?
Miss Truma N'Tugo: Yes
Safi Kilima: So tell us, what are the big issues on campus.
Miss Truma N'Tugo: To begin, there is only one entrance entrance into the
ABIIT building. On many college campuses there is access into individual
classrooms. Added to that, students' parking is located at the back of the
building. This means students must park then walk all the way around to
get in. Though the walk is some much needed exercise, students are
already carrying heavy loads. Some studebts are already complaining of
heavy backs and shoulders.
Safi Kilima: So apart from there being a single entrance to the building.
What other issues are there?
Miss Truma N'Tugo: In addition to that, there is no type of shelter lining
the building. Students who are drivers are able to sit in their cars until the
rain holds up, but some may risk running in the rain which is what
students who do not drive do since they do not have a choice. There can
be consequences to such actions, though. A student may fall ill due to
getting wet from the rain at which time they may have to be absent from
classes missing vital contact time with teachers and peers. If, however,
students are absent from classes for a certain percentage of times, there
is a possibility that he or she may not have the privilege of graduating.

Safi Kilima: We interrupt this interview to to go to Ade, also known as
Professor Wolfe, For some breaking news. Ade, tell us what's happening
where you are.
Ade, aka Professor Wolfe: Good day, Safi. I am at the Department of
Teacher Education at the ABIIT building. There's been some major
developments here, or should I say things have come to a real boiling
point. Temperatures are riding high right now. Apparently, the ABIIT
institution has blocked Teacher Education students and staff from
accessing the campus internet and has also restricted access to the
computer lab. Even this morning, reportedly, one student was unaware of
the changes and was asked to remove themselves from the computer lab.
At present, Mr Mazda, head of the college, is addressing the student
body, but I will get back to you later in the evening edition for further
updates on this. Back to you guys.
Safi Kilima: This information seems somewhat disturbing. We will have an
update later in the newscast.
